Grand Chapter 2023:
GRAND CHAPTER 2023 – A Must Attend Event.
The 2023 Grand Chapter will be held in Toronto, Canada on Thursday June 22 through Saturday June 24. Your chapter has paid for one of your members to attend as a voting delegate to elect the new General Fraternity Grand Officers, International Sweetheart and vote on any legislation statues put forth. The meeting will be held at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel, a Marriot property located on Lake Ontario. Typically, the chapter reimburses the delegate for his travel expenses. The Blue & Gold travel service will assist delegates in their travel plans beginning in April, 2023.
Given that the meeting is in Canada to honor the conclusion of Grand Consul Tim Sanderson’s term of office, your delegate will need to have a US passport. The link to for the passport application process is https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply.html. It takes 6 to 8 weeks to get a passport so it is highly recommended that the application be filed as soon as possible.
Attending Grand Chapter as an undergraduate delegate is a once in a lifetime occasion as your brother will experience Sigma Chi in an environment that can’t be duplicated on campus. In attendance will be a number of alumni that have been engaged behind the scenes with Sigma Chi since their undergraduate years, the current General Fraternity executive committee and the Grand Officer candidates for the ’23-’25 term. In addition, your delegate will have the chance to meet brothers of the ’23 Order of Constantine and Significant Sig classes, the 3 finalists for the International Sweetheart and your delegate’s peer undergraduate members from the US and Canada.
I ask that you begin discussion with your EC now on the selection of your chapter’s delegate. Ideally, your delegate will be an up and coming leader that will be able to bring the learning and enthusiasm he gains back to benefit the chapter.
